On Monday, April 23rd, high temperatures, high winds and low humidity created ideal conditions for brush fires. Several broke out in West Springfield in a short period of time. On April 16, 2007, the Westfield River overflowed its banks in Westfield, MA. This was a result of over 5" of rain in one day's time. Several homes and businesses were evacuated and dozens of streets were closed.
